Sip slow, is your cup running low?
You look around, wondering where to refill…
But first, have you taken the time to heal?
The taste is sweet, the taste of peace.
But God, God why does it so quickly fleet…
“Barista, can I have more?”
It’s easy to obtain, you once swore…
As the refills continue to flow,
You’re puzzled because your cup is still so low…
As you lift the cup for another savory sip,
It spills. Darling, you’ve lost your grip…
The taste is sweet, the taste of peace.
Create your own, and the taste will never cease.
I was inspired to write this poem as I enjoy my favorite latte, in my favorite coffee
shop, while doing one of my favorite things: writing. I felt peace at this moment,
despite being emotionally dismantled by life’s circumstances just a few days ago.
Perhaps, you can relate. Peace can be as sweet as your favorite Latte, but how do
we make it last? I hope you enjoy this poem!
