‘Tis the season for binging Christmas movies!
For those of us who celebrate, Christmas is quite literally around the corner! Is it just me or has this holiday season flown by with lightening speed?
Just a few weeks ago many of us were celebrating Thanksgiving with our family and friends, and now, Christmas is only a few days away.
I hadn’t realized how fast the holiday was approaching until I began (late) Christmas shopping and ended up engulfed in the chaos that all of the stores possess during this time of the year. Time has truly slipped away from me this season, but nonetheless, I have still managed to find just the right amount of it to watch all of my favorite Christmas movies.
I’d have to say that Christmas is by far one of my favorite holidays to celebrate; my number one is Valentines Day (more on that in February). I absolutely love the idea of cold weather, warm/cozy outfits, delicious food, spending time with the ones you love, and binge watching feel good Christmas movies.
There are a plethora of Christmas movies from classics like Miracle on 34th Street to 1989’s National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Of course we can’t forget about those super cheesy and predictable Hallmark movies as well as those who recognize Die Hard as an official Christmas film (this is debatable, but we’ll let it be for now).
Below is a quick list of what I consider my Christmas movies “Hall of Fame.” Check it out!
My Favorite Christmas Comedies- A Christmas Story (1983) & Elf (2003)
My Favorite Romantic Christmas Movie- The Holiday (2006)
My Favorite Animated Christmas Movie- The Polar Express (2004)
My Favorite Christmas Movies with a Predominantly Black Cast- This Christmas (2007) & Friday After Next (2002)
My Favorite Classic Christmas Film- It’s a Wonderful Life (1946)
My Favorite Christmas Film Series- Home Alone (1 &2) [1990/1992] & Disney’s The Santa Clause (1994-Present)
My Favorite Underrated Christmas Movies- Jingle All the Way (1996) & Christmas with the Kranks (2004)
My All Time Favorite Christmas Movie- How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000).
All of these movies have such a special place in my heart. It’s nothing like watching these films each year and laughing, cheering, or even crying during your favorite parts. Like laughing out loud when Ralphie’s friend got his tongue stuck on that frozen pole and was pleading for help in A Christmas Story or pretty much every scene where the “Wet Bandits” (A.K.A. the “Sticky Bandits’’) were getting straight tortured by an eight-year-old Kevin McCallister in Home Alone.
I cried my eyes out when my mother introduced me to It’s a Wonderful Life; such a pure, sweet, beautiful movie with a “wonderful” ending.
Every time I watch The Polar Express, I am transported back to the library in my elementary school. Vivid memories of our librarian reading the book in her most animated voice fills my brain, and then following that are other memories of us sitting there after the reading watching the film in our pajama’s with hot coco nestled in our hands.
Of course, Jim Carrey’s version of “The Grinch” in How the Grinch Stole Christmas is my all time favorite and its pretty self-explanatory as to why!
There may have been several movies mentioned that you’ve probably grown to know and love just like myself, but there may also be a few listed that you’ve never heard of/seen before. Either way, hopefully this list has given you some ideas on what to watch this holiday season or has just simply put you in the Christmas spirit.
Happy Holidays Everyone!

Great list! I also LOVE "The Lat Holiday" , a great reminder about cherishing each and every moment that our lungs expand and the Lord gives us life.
